CAPUCHIN FATHERS CLOSE MISSION AT ST. PETER'S.
The mission for the women and men of the parish of St. Peter's was brought to a close on Sunday evening at 7:30. Father Joseph Fenelon preached a most impressive closing sermon to the men of the parish, in which he earnestly exhorted them to be true to their good resolutions made during the mission, to be faithful to their baptismal promises, and ever staunch to the Catholic religion. He appealed to the congregation to have their lives more influenced by the principles of their religion than by the material world around them. Father Fenelon urged all the men and boys of St. Peter's Parish to become members of their parish sodalities, thereby gaining a powerful weapon which would help them to live practical Catholic lives.
As a result of the second week's mission large numbers of men and boys have enrolled in the Gentlemen's Sodality. The membership of the ladies' societies have been greatly increased since the first week. The spacious Church of St. Peter's was crowded to overflowing every evening during the two weeks, and more than six thousand communicants approached the Sacred Table throughout the mission.
The missionaries are much consoled by the sincere manifestations of faith shown by the parishioners of St. Peter's, and feel that the same success will mark their earnest efforts in other missions they are to give throughout the city.
ST. PHILIP'S WHIST CLUB.
St. Philip's Whist Club will hold its next game on Wednesday evening, November 21, at the parish hall, Twenty-fourth and Diamond streets. The men of the parish are in charge of this affair, and those who have attended their games in the past know what this means—a record crowd. This year they have every reason to feel that they are about to set a new record, because they are giving away a collection of prizes such as have
