It transpired that an abortive attack was made on the park magazine. One old lady going in the same direction as ourselves was in such a state of panic that she fell down several times in a hundred yards. It is a really brilliant idea. The driver is encased in/ a square box of boiler plating with wholes, The crew about sixteen in number creep in with rifles, bombs and a Maxim gun. off they go. They arrive at a house or hall which is a best of rebels back the waggon against the doorstep, protected from the rifle shooting from the windows. The little iron door is opened, the street door burst with a thrust from a short length of scaffold pole which is part of the improvised equipment, a couple of bombs lobbed in, and then the place is carried by storm. It is a really cute idea, and will I think turn the scale in our favour. I am warned for parade with two bandoliers of ammunition and iron rations for tomorrow morning, so will close as no doubt we join the scrum tomorrow. About the improvised armoured cars just described, each section was held together with about six revits the blanks being laste for vanitization.
