                "value": "To save the national language and thus to preserve and perpetuate our distinctive nationality is the aim and mission of the Gaelic League. We wish to revive our national language in order that we may fulfil the duties we owe, not only to our own country, but also to humanity in general, for we can enrich the cultural life of the world only if we utilise to the fullest extent those qualities and characteristics which belong peculiarly to our nation. It is not our aim to attack any other language, for we realise that diversity and not uniformity is the way of nature, and that the disappearance of any distinctive language leaves the world the poorer. In this we have, to guide us, the examples of the contributions made to the world's civilization by other nations through the medium of their national tongues. We have examples of languages which have been revived when they seemed to be on the very verge of extinction, and we have seen that in all such cases the revival has been accompanied by a strengthening of the bonds of unity within the nation, and by a revitalising of the nation's creative forces, leading to increased productivity both in the world of culture and in the world of commerce.
