The American Houses are an integral part of the Irish Province, and are, and should be, as great a concern to Provincial Superiors as the oldest established house of the Province. In them the Friars should feel that they have the helps and safeguards for which they embraced the Religious life, and all those means which will help them to attain the goal of their profession - religious perfection. This religious perfection, towards which we are all bound to tend, is no more empty formula, no more mediaeval myth - as some Undernited would have it. It is clearly set forth in the Gospel which we profess to follow. It will be attained only by those who make use of the means: prayer, mortification (internal and external) and work. It matters not where a Religious be stationed, what his work may be, his obligations, many of them grave obligations, arising from his Vows, his Rule, his Constitutions remain the same. It is by fidelity to these obligations that he succeeds or fails.",

At times it is difficult and depressing, but we must always remember that it is not the spectacular, \"the epic\" that counts towards the spread of Christ's Kingdom. Those who are working quietly and unobtrucively to keep alive the faith of our Catholic people in the midst of Non-Catholic or anti-Catholic surroundings are doing a splendid work for souls.
